Santa Maria delle Grazie stands a few steps from Sant'Eufemia, on the same paved square — a slightly older church, built in the 5th century and remodelled in the 6th. It is smaller and more austere than its neighbour, but with the same essential plan of three aisles and reused antique columns.
The mosaic floor, less completely preserved than Sant'Eufemia's, still shows fragments of geometric work and the inscriptions of donors. The most striking interior feature is the 6th-century octagonal stone ambo (pulpit) in the side aisle. Open the same hours as the basilica next door; take both in a single visit and the contrast between the two adds to each.
