Things to Do

Grado's appeal is divided between the old town — a small medieval-Byzantine maze on the western end of the island — and the long stretch of fine sand beach facing south to the Adriatic. The two early Christian basilicas and the lagoon behind the island are the main historical and natural attractions; everything else is incidental pleasure. Summer events bring music and food festivals, and the island stays animated well into the autumn.
