Santuario di Gesù Bambino di Praga

The Sanctuary of the Infant Jesus of Prague is the most visited church on this stretch of the Riviera, with a square bell tower rising above the lower town. Inside, a beautifully clothed statue of the Christ child sits behind glass, surrounded by ex-voto offerings — silver hearts, photos of cured children, scribbled prayers.

The crypt below holds the larger "Presepe Monumentale," an elaborate Italian nativity scene with hundreds of figures arranged across miniature alpine landscapes. It's open year-round and is one of the more impressive permanent presepi in northern Italy.

A story
The cult of the Infant Jesus of Prague — a wax-and-wood figure of the child Christ dressed in elaborate vestments — arrived in Liguria in the early 20th century. The Carmelite friars at Arenzano made it their special devotion, and pilgrims now arrive year-round from across northern Italy.
