Getting There

Chiavari is on the main Genoa–La Spezia coastal railway line, with frequent regional trains from Genoa (about 50 minutes) and La Spezia (about 45 minutes). From Milan, change at Genoa; from Florence, change at La Spezia or Pisa. The station is central, a five-minute walk from the old town and lungomare.

By car, Chiavari is on the A12 motorway (Genova–Livorno), exit Chiavari. The drive from Genoa takes about 40 minutes; from Milan about two and a half hours. Parking in the town centre is limited and often metered; the seafront car parks are more convenient. The town is compact and best explored on foot once you arrive.
