Getting There

La Spezia has no airport. The nearest is Pisa Galileo Galilei (about 80 kilometres southwest), well connected to most European cities, with a direct train from Pisa Centrale to La Spezia Centrale taking about an hour.

Genoa Cristoforo Colombo airport is the other option (about 110 kilometres northwest) — trains from Genoa Brignole run to La Spezia in just over an hour.

By train, La Spezia is on the main coastal line between Genoa and Rome, with good connections. High-speed trains stop at La Spezia on some services; check Trenitalia for direct trains from Milan, Turin, and Rome. The journey from Genoa takes about 1 hour 15 minutes; from Florence, change at Pisa or take a direct regional service (about 2 hours).

By car, La Spezia is on the A12 autostrada (Liguria motorway), with direct access from Genoa and connecting north towards Parma via the A15.
