Savona's historic centre is walkable from end to end. The Priamar fortress, the cathedral complex with the Cappella Sistina, the port, and the main shopping streets are all within a fifteen-minute walk of each other. The station is about a kilometre from the centre.
The Sanctuary of Misericordia, about five kilometres north, is served by local buses from the centre. The surrounding beaches and towns along the Riviera di Ponente — Finale Ligure, Noli, Spotorno — are best reached by train or car.
