Ventimiglia's main attractions are split between the old town above and the coastline to the west. The medieval centro storico is worth an hour's wander for its cathedral and quiet piazzas, but the real highlights lie along the cliffs toward France: the Hanbury Gardens and the Balzi Rossi caves. On Fridays, the large open-air market along the seafront draws crowds from both sides of the border.
