The Diocesan Museum of Brescia occupies the great cloister of the Monastery of San Giuseppe, a few steps from Piazza della Loggia. The collection covers the artistic patrimony of the Diocese of Brescia from the medieval period through the 18th century: altarpieces, illuminated manuscripts, reliquaries, and a strong selection of paintings by local masters including Moretto da Brescia and Romanino.
The setting in the 15th-century cloister is itself worth the visit — a peaceful arcaded courtyard tucked away from the main tourist circuit. The museum is smaller and quieter than the Santa Giulia complex next door, making it a good choice if the larger museum is crowded. Combined ticket options with Santa Giulia are sometimes available.
