Getting There

Recanati is in the central Marche, halfway between Ancona and Macerata and roughly 250 km from Rome.

By train. The nearest station is Recanati-Loreto-Montelupone, on the Adriatic mainline, about 9 km from the old town on the coastal flat. Direct trains run from Ancona (about 30 minutes) and from Bologna and Milan via change at Ancona. From the station, a regular bus or taxi covers the climb up to the old town in 15–20 minutes.

By car. From the A14 Adriatic motorway, take the Loreto exit and follow signs inland for Recanati (about 12 km, 20 minutes). From Rome, the drive is around three hours via the A1 and the A14, or longer but more scenic via the Apennine crossings. Parking is in the lots just outside the town walls — the old town itself is closed to non-resident cars.

By air. The closest airport is Ancona-Falconara, about 40 km north, with limited European connections (Ryanair to a handful of destinations). For more flight options, Rome is the practical choice for international visitors.
