Via Garibaldi

Europe's longest pedestrianised street, runs almost a kilometre from Piazza Castello to Piazza Statuto along the line of the original Roman decumanus. The shops here are mid-market — Italian high-street chains, eyewear and shoe stores, gelaterias, plus a couple of historic bookshops and stationers.

The northern end opens onto the Santuario della Consolata and the Quadrilatero; the southern end onto Piazza Castello. A pleasant spine for any walk through the centre, especially on a sunny afternoon when the whole city seems to be on it.
