At the edge of Rione Monti stands the Church of Sant'Antonio, completed in 1926. It is one of the very few modern buildings to adopt the trullo form: the facade is built with the characteristic dry-stone technique and crowned with a trullo cone, making it look like someone expanded a trullo into something big enough to hold a congregation.
The effect is a little theatrical — clearly a deliberate architectural statement about local identity — but it works better in person than in photographs. Inside, the church is quite plain. Worth a look from the outside; go in if you happen upon it open.
