Museum of Territory (Casa Pezzolla)

The Casa Pezzolla is a complex of interconnected trulli in Rione Monti that has been turned into the Museum of Territory. The exhibits trace the history and architecture of the trullo, showing how these buildings were laid out internally, how the conical roofs were constructed without mortar, and how they were used for different purposes — some as homes, some as wine cellars, some as animal shelters.

The life-sized recreations of typical trullo rooms give a clearer sense of the living conditions than most of the picturesque exteriors suggest. Scale models and archival photographs round out the collection. It is more informative than spectacular, which makes it a useful stop before or after wandering the town.
