Getting There

Gravina is on the Ferrovie Appulo-Lucane regional rail line connecting Bari with Altamura and Matera. From Bari there are several daily trains taking about 70 minutes; the station is at the edge of the modern town, a 15-minute walk from the old centre. The same line continues to Matera, making a Gravina–Matera day combination feasible.

By car it's 55km southwest of Bari on the SP237, a straightforward drive through the Murge plateau. The nearest major airport is Bari Karol Wojtyła (BRI), which has connections to most Italian cities and several European destinations. Gravina is also a logical stop between Bari and Matera for anyone doing a road trip through this part of the south.
