La Bobba is the best beach on Isola di San Pietro — a long arc of pale sand on the southwest coast, sheltered from the north by a headland and backed by low dunes and scrub. The water is shallow and clear for some distance out, making it ideal for swimming, and the beach is large enough that it rarely feels crowded even in August.
The beach is about 7 kilometres from Carloforte by road, and the drive along the west coast is pleasant in itself. There are basic facilities in summer — a seasonal bar and parasol rentals — but nothing elaborate. The beach at Punta delle Colonne to the north of La Bobba, accessible by a short walk, has spectacular basalt rock formations rising from the sea.
