Beaches

The beaches of the La Maddalena archipelago are among the best in the Mediterranean — white sand, turquoise water, and granite rocks sculpted by wind into dramatic shapes. The most accessible are on the main islands; the most spectacular are on the outer islands reachable only by boat. The water is consistently clear and warm from June through September.

A note on Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach) on Budelli: the pink-coloured sand, caused by crushed coral and shell fragments, is now strictly protected. Since 1994 you can only view it from a boat — landing is prohibited. The colour is best seen early in the morning.
