Museion is South Tyrol's contemporary art museum, housed in a bold glass and concrete building on the bank of the Talvera river, a short walk west from the old town. The glass facade doubles as a display surface — art and text are projected onto it at night. Inside, the museum mounts rotating exhibitions of modern and contemporary work by international and regional artists.
The building itself is worth seeing as an example of contemporary architecture in a city that otherwise skews historic. The riverside location gives it good light and an unexpectedly pleasant approach from the footbridge over the Talvera. It's not a major collection in the manner of the Ötzi museum, but the program is thoughtful and the setting is good.
