Folgaria–Lavarone–Luserna Ski Area

The interconnected ski area around Folgaria covers the three plateau communities of Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna, offering around 100 km of marked runs across gentle highland terrain. The area is well suited to families and intermediate skiers — the altitude gives reliable snow from December to March, and the open plateau topography is more forgiving than the dramatic high-Dolomites resorts further north.

In summer, the lift network opens for hikers and mountain bikers who want to reach the upper plateau without the climb. The trails across the Folgaria plateau connect to longer routes heading toward Trento and the Adige valley, and the landscape — open meadows, dark pine forest, distant views of the main Dolomite peaks — is at its best on a clear July morning.

A story
The ski area straddles three plateau municipalities — Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna — connected by lifts across open highland terrain. Parts of the plateau were a First World War battleground where Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces fought at altitude through brutal winters, and you can still visit the fortifications from the ski lifts.
