Arezzo rewards slow exploration. The historic centre is compact and almost entirely on foot: the Piero della Francesca frescoes, the Piazza Grande, the Romanesque church of Santa Maria della Pieve, and the Duomo are all within 10 minutes' walk of each other. The first weekend of every month brings one of Italy's biggest antique markets to the Piazza Grande.
