Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are the best times to visit Cerreto Guidi. The weather is mild, the countryside is at its most photogenic, and the Padule di Fucecchio wetlands are full of migratory birds. Summers can be hot — temperatures regularly exceed 35°C in July and August — but the hills provide some relief and the town is quiet enough that the heat is not a problem.
La Notte d'Isabella takes place each July over two evenings. The festival commemorates Isabella de' Medici with period music performances, costumed processions, and evening events centred on the villa and the piazza. It is the town's main cultural event and worth timing a visit around.
Harvest season in October brings activity to the local vineyards and olive groves. Some estates in the area open for tastings and tours during this period. Winter is cold but uncrowded; the villa museum is open year-round.
