Day Trips

Cerreto Guidi sits at the hub of several worthwhile excursions. Vinci is just six kilometres to the northeast — Leonardo da Vinci's birthplace, with two museums dedicated to his work and the hamlet of Anchiano where he was born. Empoli, ten kilometres south, is a bustling market town with a fine Romanesque collegiate church and a good ceramics museum. Certaldo to the southwest is the birthplace of Boccaccio and retains a beautifully preserved medieval upper town.
