Caffè dell'Ussero

Address Lungarno Pacinotti 27, 56126 Pisa
Opening Hours Mon–Sat 07:30–20:30; closed Sun

The oldest café in the city, open since 1775 inside Palazzo Agostini on the north bank of the Arno. Marble counters, frescoed ceilings, and walls hung with portraits of the Italian patriots who used to meet here — Mazzini, Garibaldi, Carducci. It was the unofficial parliament of the Pisan Risorgimento.

Drinks are reasonably priced for a place of this historical weight. Stand at the counter for a quick espresso (€1.20) or take a table by the window for a slower drink and the river view. The Liberty-era inner room is the photogenic one. Light snacks at lunch.
