A small museum dedicated to a single extraordinary exhibit: a detailed 1:100 scale model of San Gimignano as it would have appeared around the year 1300, when all 72 of the original family towers were still standing. The model was built by two local sculptors over several years of research, using medieval records, archaeological evidence, and comparative studies of surviving structures. Seeing it is the best way to understand what the original skyline actually looked like — not 14 towers but 72, packed so closely together the town must have resembled a medieval Manhattan.
The museum is compact and the visit is short, but it's genuinely illuminating as a prelude or complement to walking the actual streets. Knowing what was lost makes what survives more vivid.
