The Caffè della Posta is one of the oldest cafes in Courmayeur and has been serving coffee and pastries to mountaineers, skiers, and travellers since the early twentieth century. The interior has not changed much over the decades — wood panelling, alpine prints, and a long counter behind which the barista runs a precise and efficient operation. The espresso is excellent.
This is the place for breakfast before an early start in the mountains, or for a mid-morning break after the first run of the day. The cornetti are reliably fresh and the hot chocolate in winter is as thick as it should be. Prices are slightly higher than you would pay in a valley town, as is standard in the resort, but the quality justifies it and the service is brisk enough that you are never waiting long.
