Getting There

Courmayeur is at the foot of the Mont Blanc Tunnel, roughly 140 kilometres from Turin and about 200 kilometres from Milan. Both cities are around two hours by car on a clear day, though the A5 motorway through the Aosta Valley gets heavily congested on winter Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons when the ski crowd moves.

The nearest airport is Turin (TRN), about two hours away. Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Geneva (GVA) are both feasible at around three hours. From the French side, the Mont Blanc Tunnel connects Courmayeur directly to Chamonix — the crossing takes about fifteen minutes and makes the two resorts effectively interchangeable for base purposes.

Bus services run from Aosta, Chamonix, and several Italian cities during the ski season, operated by Savda and FlixBus. The nearest train station is at Pré-Saint-Didier, five kilometres down the valley, served by the Aosta-Pré-Saint-Didier regional line. From Pré-Saint-Didier, local buses connect to Courmayeur throughout the day.
