The Skyway is Courmayeur's signature cable car, rebuilt in 2015 with rotating gondolas that give passengers a full 360-degree view as they rise from Courmayeur (1,224 m) to Punta Helbronner on the Italian-French border at 3,466 m. The journey takes about twenty minutes and arrives at a glass-and-steel viewing platform perched on the ridge of the Mont Blanc massif. On a clear day the view takes in Mont Blanc itself, the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, and the Grandes Jorasses — essentially the entire arc of the western Alps. In summer, from Punta Helbronner you can continue by cable car across the Vallée Blanche glacier to the Aiguille du Midi above Chamonix.
