Notre-Dame-de-Guérison Sanctuary

A small pilgrimage chapel at the entrance to the Val Veny, Notre-Dame-de-Guérison — Our Lady the Healer — sits at the foot of Mont Chétif on the road that leads towards the old Roman alpine pass of the Col de la Seigne. The sanctuary has been a place of devotion for local communities for centuries, and the surrounding landscape of meadows and rocky peaks makes the setting particularly compelling.

The chapel is worth a short detour if you are driving or cycling along the Val Veny road, which is itself one of the finest valley routes in the area. The building is modest but well preserved, and the combination of religious history and Roman-era topography gives this quiet spot an unexpected depth. The Entrèves hamlet is close by, and from here you can pick up trails into the upper valley.

A story
The road past the sanctuary follows the old Roman route over the Col de la Seigne into Gaul. Legions marched this way when crossing the Alps, and the sanctuary site was likely already a place of significance long before the Christian chapel was built here.
