Rifugio Scotter is an accessible mountain hut above San Vito di Cadore, reached in around an hour of easy hiking from the village on a broad forest path. It sits in a clearing at the edge of the tree line with views back down the Boite valley and across to the Antelao massif, making it a popular destination for families and for those wanting a short walk with a reward at the end.
The kitchen produces honest mountain food: polenta, stews, cured meats from the Belluno valleys, and grilled meat in the evenings. In winter the hut operates as a ski hut for the slopes above and serves hot drinks and simple snacks to skiers passing through. It is open most of the year except during the shoulder season when lifts and trails are both closed.
