Palazzo Grassi is an 18th-century Grand Canal palace used for major contemporary art exhibitions, mostly drawn from or connected to the Francois Pinault Collection. The building gives the shows a grand Venetian setting without feeling like another old-master museum.
It pairs well with Punta della Dogana, Pinault's other Venice exhibition space. Check the current show before going, since the appeal depends heavily on what is installed.
