Monastery of the Holy Archangels, Binç

The Monastery of the Holy Archangels stands in the village of Binç, a few kilometres south of Gjilan. It is a Serbian Orthodox monastery and one of the older religious sites in this part of eastern Kosovo. The building itself is modest, but the surrounding countryside — low hills, orchards, and quiet lanes — makes the short drive worthwhile.

The region's ethnic tensions are real and have not entirely disappeared since 1999, but the monastery is accessible to visitors and the monks are accustomed to occasional guests. Approach with the usual courtesy extended to active religious sites: dress modestly and ask before taking photographs inside. The visit is brief — an hour including the drive — but it adds a layer of religious and historical context to a part of Kosovo that most visitors see only at speed.
