Livoç Lake is an artificial reservoir lying in gentle hilly countryside a few kilometres west of Gjilan. The lake was created by damming a river and now sits surrounded by low wooded hills that give it a pleasant, slightly remote feeling despite being so close to the city. The drive out is easy and short.
In summer the shores become an informal recreational area. Local families spread blankets, set up barbecues, and spend afternoons here. Fishing is popular throughout the year. There is no formal infrastructure to speak of — this is not a developed resort — but that is part of its appeal. If you want to escape the city's heat and dust for an afternoon, this is where Gjilan residents go.
