Pfälzerhütte

The Pfälzerhütte sits at 2,108 metres on the Bettlerjoch saddle, an easy two-hour walk from the top of the Sareis chairlift along the Fürstensteig. The hut is owned by the Liechtenstein Alpine Club and serves a short menu of Knödel, Spätzle, soup, and beer to passing hikers from June to October.

It is one of the most popular short hikes in the country — half-day round trip from Malbun, no technical difficulty, spectacular views along the way. The hut also offers basic dormitory accommodation; sunset and sunrise from the saddle are worth the overnight if you can get a bed.

A story
The Pfälzerhütte was built in 1928 by the Palatinate section of the German Alpine Club — hence the name. It passed to the Liechtenstein Alpine Club after the Second World War. The summit register has been signed by every reigning prince of Liechtenstein in living memory.
