Snow Arena

Snow Arena is an indoor ski facility a short distance from Druskininkai town centre, offering a 440-metre ski run and snowboarding facilities in a climate-controlled hall. Open year-round, it is particularly popular in the warmer months when skiing is otherwise impossible, and it draws a steady stream of Lithuanian families and beginners who have never skied outdoors.

The main run has a vertical drop of about 45 metres — modest by Alpine standards, but perfectly serviceable for learning or for a couple of hours of runs. The facility rents all necessary equipment, offers lessons for beginners, and has a snowboarding half-pipe. Adjacent to the Snow Arena is the entrance to Aqua Park, and the combination of skiing and water slides makes for a popular full-day family programme in Druskininkai.

A story
Snow Arena opened in 2012 and immediately became one of the most unusual sports facilities in the Baltic region — an indoor ski slope in a country with almost no natural elevation. Lithuania's highest point is just 294 metres above sea level. The Snow Arena offers Lithuanians and visitors what the landscape emphatically does not: a proper ski run, maintained at minus five degrees Celsius year-round.
