Šiauliai is well connected by rail and bus. Regular trains run from Vilnius (about 2.5 hours) and Klaipėda (about 1.5 hours). Buses connect the city with Riga, Tallinn, and most Lithuanian cities. The Hill of Crosses is about 12 km north of the city centre; local buses and taxis run there regularly.
