Šiauliai is a stop for one extraordinary place — the Hill of Crosses — and a handful of pleasant city diversions: a peculiar central pedestrian street with sundials and sculptures, a quirky museum of cats and another of bicycles, and the cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul whose Baroque spire is still the tallest landmark for many kilometres.
