Zubovai Palace

The Zubovai Palace (Didždvaris) is a neoclassical mansion built in the late 18th century for Prince Platon Zubov, the last favourite of Empress Catherine the Great, who acquired the Šiauliai estate after the Partitions of Poland. The palace was the country house of one of the wealthiest families of the empire and saw extensive 19th-century alterations.

Today it houses the Šiauliai Academy of Vilnius University. The exterior and grounds are open to walk past; the interior is generally only accessible during open days and the occasional concert.
