Bernardine Cemetery

Bernardine Cemetery was established in 1810 by Bernardine monks from the Church of St Francis in Užupis. It became one of Vilnius's main burial grounds, then fell into disrepair after 1945 before restoration work began in the 2010s.

The cemetery is quiet, atmospheric, and best approached as part of a walk through Užupis and the eastern side of the old town. Its old monuments and overgrown corners show a more fragile layer of Vilnius history than the grand churches nearby.
