Wasserbillig Aquarium

The Wasserbillig Aquarium sits near the confluence of the Sûre and Moselle rivers and focuses on the freshwater species of the region rather than the exotic tropical fish common in larger aquariums. Tanks hold native species — pike, perch, catfish, tench, eel, and crayfish — along with explanatory panels on the ecology of the two rivers. It is a small, thoughtfully curated collection rather than a grand spectacle.

For families with children, the aquarium provides a welcome indoor interlude on a rainy day along the cycling route. Opening hours are seasonal; check before arriving out of peak season.

A story
The aquarium focuses on the fish of the Moselle and Sûre rivers — pike, perch, bream, eels — rather than tropical species, which makes it one of the few European aquariums that shows visitors exactly what lives in the water they are standing beside.
