Kičevo lies about 120 kilometres southwest of Skopje on a reasonable mountain road. Direct buses run several times a day between Kičevo and Skopje's main bus station; the journey takes roughly two and a half hours depending on traffic through the mountain passes. Buses also connect Kičevo to Ohrid (around 90 minutes) and to Tetovo and Gostivar to the north.
There is no train service to Kičevo. If you are driving from Skopje, the route via Makedonski Brod through the Treska gorge is slower but considerably more scenic than the main highway. Coming from Ohrid, the road climbs through the Bistra foothills before descending into the Kičevo basin.
