Sonsbeek is an English-landscape park of about 70 hectares on the northern edge of Arnhem's city centre, running from the edge of the shopping district up into the wooded hills toward the Veluwe. The park is characterised by old beeches, open meadows, a small waterfall, ponds, and the white 19th-century Sonsbeek Villa which hosts art exhibitions.
The park is the best place in Arnhem for a walk at any time of year — it is wooded enough to feel genuinely green in summer and beautiful in autumn colour. Museum Arnhem sits at its lower edge. Scattered through the park are permanent sculpture works, remnants of the international sculpture exhibitions held here in the 20th century. The park is free to enter and open from sunrise to sunset.
