Domburg Beach

Domburg's beach is wide, clean, and backed by substantial dunes that shelter the town from the North Sea winds. The sand is fine and pale, and at low tide the beach extends a long way — there is real room to spread out even in summer, though August weekends bring considerable crowds from the Dutch Randstad.

The famous Zeeland light — clear, soft, particularly beautiful in the early morning and late afternoon — is something that painters have been coming here specifically to paint since the nineteenth century. The beach pavilion offers food and drinks with views along the coastline, and the surf school based here runs lessons when the conditions are right. Walking north or south along the dune paths takes you quickly away from any crowds and into genuine natural dune landscape.
