AVRO Studios

The AVRO Studios complex on 's-Gravelandseweg is a key 1930s monument of Dutch broadcasting architecture, built in two phases by Dudok protege Ben Merkelbach and Charles Karsten. Sleek white volumes, ribbon windows, and a curved entrance hall set the visual tone for an entire era of Dutch radio.

The first Eurovision Song Contest broadcast from the Netherlands took place here in 1958. The buildings still function as production studios, though most broadcasting has shifted to the Mediapark to the north. From outside you can take in the cluster of 1930s and 1950s additions on the same site.
