The Raadhuis is W.M. Dudok's masterpiece and the building that put Hilversum on the international architectural map. Completed in 1931, it sits in its own garden west of the centre, with a slender clock tower rising over a composition of horizontal yellow-brick blocks and a long reflecting pool. The interplay of solid masses, ribbon windows, and water is calm and confident — modernism without the cold edges.
Tours of the interior run on selected days and let you see Dudok's original colour schemes, light fittings, and ceremonial hall. Even if you only walk around the outside, the building rewards a slow circuit: every elevation is different, and the view across the pond at dusk is the classic shot. The garden is a small public park.
