Hindeloopen is best experienced at walking pace. The cobblestone streets are barely wide enough for a car, the houses lean at angles that suggest centuries of settling, and the whole town can be covered in an afternoon. The Hidde Nijland Museum is the main organised attraction; the rest is the pleasure of wandering a town that time has largely passed by.
