Hoorn's historic centre is easily walkable — the train station, the Rode Steen square, and the harbour are all within a 15-minute radius. The rest of the city is served by buses. Cycling is the recommended way to explore the wider region, including the flat polder landscape and the Markermeer coastline; bikes can be rented from shops near the station.
