Lemmer eats well for a town its size, and the harbourside terraces are reliably busy through the summer. The local speciality is gerookte paling — smoked eel from the IJsselmeer, eaten on dark bread with a squeeze of lemon — and most of the fish restaurants along the Schulpen and Vissersburen list it on the menu.
