The Scheveningen Lighthouse is the red-and-white-striped tower at the southern end of the boulevard, built in 1875 by Quirinus Harder and one of the earliest cast-iron lighthouses in the Netherlands. It is 48 metres high and still in operational use; its flash is visible from 29 nautical miles out.
The interior is not normally open, but the surrounding small park and the dune path past it are pleasant, with the cliff-edge Seinpost observation tower nearby. The lighthouse is at the foot of a small dune; the climb up to it gives the best wider view of the southern stretch of the beach.
