De Koog sits at the edge of the Duinen van Texel National Park, which makes it the best base for accessing the island's dunes, nature reserves, and long North Sea beach. Most of what you come here to do is outdoors — walking, cycling, birdwatching, and lying on the sand. EcoMare, just at the edge of the village, is the one indoor attraction worth the entry fee.
