The Peperbus, officially the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren, is Zwolle's landmark tower. Its nickname means "pepper pot", and once you have seen the broad lantern top it is hard to call it anything else.
The climb is the point. After the stairs, the view opens over the old centre, the canal ring, and the flat green country beyond the IJssel. It is the best way to understand Zwolle's compact shape.
