Zwolle is a major rail junction for the northeast Netherlands, with direct trains from Amsterdam, Utrecht, Groningen, Leeuwarden, Enschede, and Arnhem. The station is about ten to fifteen minutes on foot from the old centre.
By car, the A28 runs past the city, but parking at the edge of the centre is easier than trying to drive into the old streets. From Heerde, Zwolle is a straightforward bus, bike, or car trip north along the IJssel side of the Veluwe.
