Harstad Church

Harstad Church is the main parish church of the town, an early 20th-century building in the national romantic style. Built in 1904, it sits prominently on a hillside overlooking the harbour and is visible from most parts of the town centre. The interior is relatively plain but the building has good proportions and the exterior stonework is well-crafted.

The church is less interesting in itself than Trondenes Church on the peninsula, but it is the defining landmark of central Harstad and worth noting as you walk around town. The view from the church square over the harbour is pleasant.
